Avalanches at the Village!

An October snowstorm laid down 2' of the season's first snow. Later, in early November, the temps rose and then it rained and then back to frigid conditions= ICE! Now, in late December it has been snowing nicely and at times quite heavy but the weak layer below and the heavy snowpack are not getting along and we have seen serious in-bounds slides for several days now. Don't even think about the backcountry, if you value your life. Today, the mtn closed all day to continue further control on the snowpack, tragically it took a life on Saturday and today we almost lost a restaurant at mid-mtn.
