Hello Sunshine!
First salmonfly of 2010- Father's Day
Finally, a break from the late spring gray transitioning to brilliant solstice blue skies... welcome summer! Fishing as of lately is excellent on area lakes while rivers continue and up and down cycle of snow melt and water releases from reservoirs. The Green and South Fork are the best float fishing venues as of now. Flows are still on the high end but clarity and bug activity are increasing daily. Mostly a wet fly scenario now we are seeing best action with streamers and deep nymph rigs combining stonefly nymphs and "aquatic annelids". Reports from the Firehole have been great but word is the water temp is rising quickly during the day and the action is slow in the afternoon.
My daughter, Sydney and I out on a morning float Father's day... she loves the bugs and the trout!
